What is beauty ?
Beauty according to the dictionary is defined as the state of being beautiful. But whether this beauty or fairness which people achieves nowadays by using commercial creams or over the counter products is really helpful? Well, the answer to this is quite shocking. According to the survey, rampant misuse of the products (such as Topical Steroid creams) is gradually increasing in proportions all over India. Topical corticosteroids can lead to side-effects such as depigmentation have led to the use of the medication as a “fairness” cream but this depigmentation brings other side effects such as redness, skin thinning, increased sensitivity, etc. Some patients may become dependent on the drug and use the drug randomly by purchasing it directly from the chemists who are allowed to sell the drug freely without a dermatologist’s prescription. However, many of these patients do not consult dermatologists initially or even later and apply steroids which are recommended by their friends, neighbors, and relatives.
The endpoint of misuse is basically devastating and the people who used the creams for enhancing his or her fairness has now become the patient of the routine dermatological practice. So always consult your dermatologist before using any of such beauty products and remember that things that are easily available and gives you result in a short term not always benefits you in the long run.
