Vocational Education which is also termed as technical education or skill education has recently gained much hype and is soon to become one of the eminent elements of India’s trajectory to development through skill-oriented or work-integrated learning, industry-relevant courses for greater employment opportunities as well as entrepreneurship. The main impetus of Vocational education is to give students an alternative to a prevalent conventional college degree that usually focuses on gaining knowledge with negligible industry experience wherein they can get knowledge as well as skills to be job ready. Vocational Education is soon going to change the educational setup of the country and thereby reducing the burden of unemployment by producing killed workforce and entrepreneurs. Taking up such courses in vocational education will enhance the chances of employability of the students as well as create a pool of determined people who will not just be job seekers but job givers through skill-based learning.B. Voc – Bachelor of Vocation, is a combination of conventional education with skill orientation. B. Voc is a multi-entry, multi-exit, 3 year Degree program approved by UGC, wherein students can have vertical and horizontal movements which thus makes it flexible enough to get the certification at each level.
A student who doesn’t wish to continue his education after a specific level of skill education can get the respective level of certification and is eligible for a job as per the defined job role of that particular level. B.Voc (Bachelor of Vocational Degree) courses are available in various segments for students who have completed 10+2 or equivalent. This course is majorly targeted towards the students who want to increase their employability opportunities and to learn practical skills and earn industry experience. The benefit of such courses is that contrary to the conventional Degree courses like B.A., B.B, A or B.Sc, here you have multiple exit points and specified job roles as per the level of skills learned. The skills learned and industry exposure increases the chances of landing at a job. The term ‘vocation’ in B. Voc indicates something skill based or work-related. So if you have an avocational qualification, it implies that you possess the practical learning skills which not only will make it easier for you in getting the job you are applying for, but it will also help you do the job with more skill, confidence, and determination and hence be more productive overall. It should be understood that skill education is not an ‘easier’ alternative to a conventional degree, itis something that empowers you with practical skills and an underlying knowledge which will again, in turn, help you need to understand how to use these skills. Even though, vocational education is still viewed as a last resort academic option. Vocational education shouldn’t be considered as a backup plan for students who can’t afford a college education or as something for those students who could not get admission in any college or conventional degree courses. In B.Voc there is a huge variety of courses like Agriculture,Automotive, Banking & Financial Services , Childcare and Geriatric Care, Dialysis Technology,Electronics, Hospitality, Healthcare, Industrial safety, Industrial tool Manufacturing, Information Technology Enabled Service (ITES), Management & Entrepreneurship, Media & Entertainment,Pharmaceuticals, Printing & packaging technology, Renewable Energy, Telecom, Travel &Tourism and so on.

Vocational programs have become the talk of the towns across the country and are flourishing by leaps and bounds as they take up and solve the issue of providing skilled manpower to the industry and
bridge the gap between learning and earning.
